View full details
These glass V60 style pour-overs are perfect for brewing 1-4 cups of delicious coffee. They are simple and fun to use, plus they bring out the most robust flavors from your coffee beans.
Sure, it's easy dumping stale ground beans into a dirty ancient coffee pot and letting the machine kick on 10 minutes before you wake up. But we can assure you, taking the extra 5 minutes to make a delicious pour-over is worth it.
What you'll need:
- End of the World pour-over set (pour-over and coffee carafe)
- Size 2 coffee filters. We recommend Hario.
- 21 g (or about 3 heaping tbs) of ground coffee.
- Hot water. We typically heat to 202 degrees.
- Scale (optional)
- Timer
Steps to make a perfect cup:
Put the pour-over onto the coffee carafe and fit a paper filter into the top cone portion.
Heat up your water.
Do a quick rinse of the filter, getting it damp and letting the water drain through. Dump out the water from the filter rinse. This helps ensure you don't get any papery taste from the filter.
Add your ground coffee to the filter. The grind ideally will be more coarse - resembling kosher salt in size.
Steadily pour water over all of the grounds - Just enough to saturate the coffee. Then stop pouring and let the coffee "bloom" for 15 seconds. If your coffee is fresh, you'll see the grounds poof up and bubble a bit. It kind of looks like a brownie baking and rising!
After about 15 seconds, start pouring water again, starting in the center and making a slow spiral out. For the best flavor, stop and let the water drain when it starts to rise above the grounds and then resume once the level has drained back down.
If you're using a scale, aim for about 360 g of water. If you don't have a scale, you can keep pouring until your coffee reaches about the halfway point on the "02" on the side of the End of the World coffee carafe.
Take the pour-over off the top, and discard the filter and the coffee. Place the lid on the carafe to keep your coffee warm and pour yourself a cup!
